Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a Cat Cafe?
We want to clarify that we are not your typical cafe. As per the requirements of the Department of Health, we offer a self-service coffee, tea, and hot chocolate bar in the check-in area. We do not serve food. We may serve pre-packaged goods. This area is separate from the cat lounge. The cat lounge is a foster home for adoptable cats.
  • Where are you located?
We are located at 356 Bloomfield Ave in Montclair, New Jersey, between Natural Nails and A&M Barber Shop. To reach our location, please use the stairway to walk up to the second floor. Please note that we do not have an elevator available at this time.
  • Where can I park?
Please give yourself time to find parking. There is street parking available and several municipal and private lots in the area, including a new deck on Glenridge Ave. Click here for additional parking information:
  • What ages can visit the cat lounge?
We welcome visitors who are 7 years old or older to visit the cat lounge. Our age policy aims to ensure the safety of both our kittens and visitors. Children ages 7-12 are allowed in our 30 minute sessions only. We do require one adult for every 3 children. Thank you for your understanding.
  • Do I need a reservation to visit?
We truly want you to have the best possible experience at our cat cafe. At this time, Reservations are REQUIRED to enter the Cat Lounge.
  • Why do I have to pay to play with cats?
As with any business, we have expenses such as rent, utilities, insurance, payroll, and caring for the cats. Your cover charge is the primary source of income that enables us to provide this experience. By making a purchase, you are directly contributing to the care of our rescue cats. We appreciate your support.
  • How much is admission to the Cat lounge?
Cat lounge admission is $12 for 30 minutes and $24 for 60 minutes. You can book additional time in 30 minute intervals, up to 2 hours if available. If you are late, we cannot extend your visit. Thank you for understanding.
  • Can I book the cat lounge for a private event?
Yes, you certainly can! Please email for more information. We can accomadate 1-12 people for your private experience.
  • Do I have to sign a waiver?
We want all visitors to have a fun and safe experience, which is why we require everyone to sign a waiver before entering. A guardian will need to sign a waiver for each child. This waiver outlines the potential risks involved and serves as an agreement to enter at your own risk while holding our facility harmless. By signing the waiver, you can enjoy the company of our furry friends with peace of mind, knowing that we take your safety seriously. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. You can find the waiver included in your receipt after booking as well as in the header of the website.
  • Do I have to adopt a cat to visit?
No! While all of our cats are adoptable, you are not required to adopt. You are welcome to play, snuggle and enjoy their company during your visit!
  • How do adoptions work?
To adopt a cat, please fill out the Adoption Application on our website. Our adoption specialists review all applications, which usually take 5-7 business days to process. However, please note that applying does not guarantee approval to adopt. Once you receive approval, an adoption fee of $225 is required for one cat and $400 for two cats. We recommend double adoptions, especially for bonded pairs and littermates. Be aware that you need a carrier for transportation, and you can either purchase one at the Catfé or bring your own. We want to ensure that each cat finds the right home, so we appreciate your patience and understanding throughout the adoption process.
  • What’s included in the adoption fee?
All cats at the Catfé are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and receive age-appropriate tests and vaccines before arrival. Adoption fees cover these services and a copy of the cat’s medical records is provided.
  • Where do the cats come from?
We work with a few different Rescue Organizations in New Jersey who follow the TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) philosophy to control the feral cat population in the area. Whenever a rescued cat is found to be young, pregnant, friendly, or sick, they are placed into foster care and receive medical attention until they are cleared by a veterinarian. Some of these cats are then placed in our Catfé, so they can socialize and find their forever home.
  • Can you take my cat? Can you take a cat I found?
No. We are unable to take in animals that have been surrendered by their owners or found/rescued animals at our location. Please reach out to a non-profit animal rescue organization in your area for assistance. Check out this link: It's important to note that abandoning an animal is illegal in New Jersey and our location is monitored by cameras. If an animal is abandoned on our premises, we will take legal action.
  • Do you have a phone number?
No. We do not have a phone number. We can be reached through email at and through the chat function on this website. We will get back to you asap. Thank you for understanding.
