A cat café is a term that describes establishments combining a café atmosphere with the presence of cats, allowing visitors to interact with them. The Catfé is unique in that we do not operate as a traditional café. Our main focus is on creating a cozy environment where cats can socialize with visitors, ultimately helping them find their forever homes.
We do provide a complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate bar for your enjoyment, but our priority is the well-being of our feline friends. We encourage you to explore the wonderful coffee and tea shops in Montclair and feel free to bring your own drinks to enjoy while spending time with the cats. We’re excited to share this unique experience with you!
Please give yourself time to find parking. There is street parking available and several municipal and private lots in the area, including a new deck on Glenridge Ave. Click here for additional parking information: https://mont....com/parking/
We welcome visitors who are 7 years old or older to visit the cat lounge. Our age policy aims to ensure the safety of both our kittens and visitors. Children ages 7-12 are allowed in our 30 minute sessions only. We do require one adult for every 3 children. We sometimes have special events for ages 5+. Thank you for your understanding.
Just like any fun venture, we have some costs to cover—think rent, utilities, insurance, payroll, and of course, taking care of our fabulous feline friends! Your cover charge is the golden ticket that keeps this purr-fect experience going. When you make a purchase, you’re not just having a great time; you’re also playing a vital role in giving our rescue cats the loving care they deserve. We’re so grateful for your support—thank you for being a part of our cat-tastic community!
Yes, you certainly can! Please email meow@catfemontclair.com for more information. We can accomadate 1-12 people for your private experience.
We want all visitors to have a fun and safe experience, which is why we require everyone to sign a waiver before entering. A guardian will need to sign a waiver for each child. This waiver outlines the potential risks involved and serves as an agreement to enter at your own risk while holding our facility harmless. By signing the waiver, you can enjoy the company of our furry friends with peace of mind, knowing that we take your safety seriously. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. You can find the waiver included in your receipt after booking as well as in the header of the website.
To adopt a cat, please fill out the Adoption Application on our website. Your application will be sent to our rescue partner, Homeless Tails, for review. This process typically takes 5-7 business days. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee approval for adoption.
Once you receive approval, an adoption fee of $225 is required for one cat and $400 for two cats. We encourage double adoptions, especially for bonded pairs and littermates. Additionally, please ensure you have a carrier for transporting the cat; you can purchase one at the Catfé or bring your own.
We are committed to ensuring that each cat finds the right home, so we appreciate your patience and understanding throughout the adoption process. All adoption decisions are made by Homeless Tails.
At the Catfé, every cat is spayed or neutered and receives age-appropriate tests and vaccinations before they arrive. When you choose to adopt a cat, not only are you gaining a loving companion, but you’re also making a difference in the life of another cat in need. Your adoption fee, which goes to our rescue partner, Homeless Tails, covers essential services, and you’ll receive a copy of your new friend’s medical records. By adopting, you’re helping us rescue and care for even more cats, making room for them to find their forever homes, too!
We are proud to partner with Homeless Tails, a dedicated non-profit rescue organization that practices the TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) method to humanely manage the local feral cat population. When a cat is rescued and found to be young, pregnant, friendly, or in need of medical care, they are placed in foster homes and provided with veterinary attention. Once they are healthy and cleared by a veterinarian, these cats join us at the Catfé, where they can safely socialize, receive love and attention, and ultimately connect with adopters to find their forever homes.
No. We are unable to take in animals that have been surrendered by their owners or found/rescued animals at our location. Please reach out to a non-profit animal rescue organization in your area for assistance. Check out this link: https://gardenstatecatexpo.com/cat-rescue-groups
It's important to note that abandoning an animal is illegal in New Jersey and our location is monitored by cameras. If an animal is abandoned on our premises, we will take legal action.
